Walking through Hong Kong Park in Central
Surrounded by skyscrapers on one side and facing Victoria Peak, named after the English Queen, on the other side, the Hong Kong Park was opened in 1991 and has since become a well-known tourist attraction. It has a large picturesque garden, several museums, an aviary with exotic birds and a playground for children. There are also several waterfalls and a pond system in the park, and in general, an atmosphere of cultivated, but real nature has been created. Hong Kong Park has been awarded numerous world-class awards for its excellent landscaping solutions.
The aviary for birds covers an area of 3,000 square meters. m. and is a single space enclosed by a protective net. The viewing spots, which reach a height of 30 meters, are located in the treetops in the form of galleries and passages, so that tourists can find themselves inside the bird kingdom, and not just observe from afar. The aviary is home to about 600 birds of various breeds and species.
When visiting museums, tourists can explore in detail the history of tea ceremonies in China and the British Empire, which once owned Hong Kong. The museum has 9 exhibition halls, and one of the main exhibits is tableware from Jiangsu Province, where unique clay has been mined throughout almost the entire history of China, making tea tableware a work of art. The museum also offers rare varieties of tea that are not sold anywhere else in Hong Kong.
Another significant attraction of the park are the buildings in which the British military garrison was located. It is in them that the administrative authorities of the park are located, as well as museums, restaurants and cafes, making the atmosphere of all establishments especially unique. Each corner of the park has its own history, which the guides will be happy to tell you about, allowing you not only to admire the beauty of the landscape design, but also to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the 19th century, when the park was still the location of the garrison.
Children will also not be bored while adults study the history of tea and the British military – the park has a playground with several levels of games and entertainment for any age, from toddlers to teenagers. Tourists can also visit the Olympic square, built in the style of an ancient amphitheater, accommodating about 1,000 spectators and where various concerts and theatrical performances are constantly held.
And the system of ponds and waterfalls gives a feeling of freshness and coolness even on the hottest days, so that you can enjoy the beauty and entertainment presented in the park all day long, without getting tired of the heat and getting the best impressions from visiting the park.
With my tourists, I definitely visit the Hong Kong Park with its bird house, turtle pond and waterfall!
